SIXTH GRADE

"THE ROCKFISH"

 

Sixth grade students receive six periods of academic subjects per day. Each class is a double period and they receive Science and World History on a rotating A/B day schedule.

ILA

We have been finishing up our first unit, "Growing and Changing.". We finished our first novel, "Tuck Everlasting," and watched the movie to compare the two. We have begun our second novel, "Wait Till Helen Comes." We will be moving to our new unit "Non-fiction." We will be exploring various true life adventures through short stories such as "The Challenger" and "Titanic."

 

MATH

 

Students have been exploring fractions.

 

  SCIENCE

We have become "weather watchers" and talked about cloud formations.

WORLD HISTORY

We have been exploring Mesopotamia and Egypt. During November, we will begin an Ancient India Unit. We will also be participating in mock elections through internet usage.
